A C T I V I T I E S

Syllabus

The course will focus on six different time periods in world philosophy and focus on these periods through the works of one thinker of that period.

The thinkers to be analysed are:

I) Plato and Antique Thought

II) Ibn Khaldoun (Ibni Haldun) and Islamic Thought

III) John Locke and The Enlightenment Period

IV) Nietzche and the Industrial Revolution Society

V) Huntington and the Clash of Civilizations Idea

VI) General Evaluation of 20th and 21st Century Thought

There will be five essays to be written about five out of the six subjects of the class. Each essay will be based on a text placed on the Assignments page of this website. Each will have a specific deadline and submissions after the deadlines will result in reduced points.

There is no office hour. Students can visit the lecturer any time of their convenience provided the lecturer is not in a meeting.
